-I want to keep hanging out around bonfires.
-I want to be living with between 5 and 10 people, more if someone can figure out how to do it without disasterus results.
-I want to dumpster and grow as much food as possible, buying the rest at a co-op, or a locally owned grocery store.
-I can't think of anything else at the moment.

my big question about cities is:
ARE THEY BIKE-ABLE?
(the factors include-)
layout of the city
climate
terrain
our determination
public transport (to help out) right?
so based on these things & my (very limited) knowledge of (some of) these places, they seem entirely possible to me, though i wonder about boston & the northern portland for the harshness of their winters?
who can share with us about BALTIMORE, MINNEAPOLIS, DENVER & BRATTLEBORO? those are the ones i don't know.
what are they like? do tell...
Brattleboro is a very pretty town, very quaint, with lots of veggie and vegan options availible. Their co-op is really good with a very large selection. There are some nice used bookstores, including a very big one right near the center. There is a fledgling music scene of sorts, mostly folk/bluegrass-ish music, but I saw Plan-it-X fest there too. There is no/little public transportation that I know of (most Vermont towns have a bus called the Moover, but they're not that dependable).
Things are pretty close together, most of them are located around the downtown area, but it's very hilly, so it's not for the novice. Winters can be really intense, you will learn to love polar fleece.
